AUSTIN – Dentegra Smile Club, a new dental discount and rewards program offered by Dentegra Insurance Co., connects members to discounts on dental products and services, pricing transparency and dentist reviews.
For $2 per month, members have access to Dentegra’s 2,200 dentists in Texas, who agree to charge club members their discounted fees, a press release stated. Also, club members receive a discount on the purchase of the Kolibree Connected Electric Toothbrush – the first of its kind that offers 3-D sensors and real-time interactive feedback to users in an innovative way – and can earn a cleaning and exam for good brushing behavior.
Dentegra Smile Club membership is available to residents of Travis, Williamson, Bastrop, Caldwell and Hays counties, which are all in the Austin area. Club members who live in the Austin service area can get discounts on dental services not just from dentists in that area, but also from other Dentegra network dentists.
“Dentegra Smile Club offers a great opportunity to those who don’t have dental insurance to still reap discounts on dental services,” stated Belinda Martinez, Dentegra’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, in a press release.
For those who opt to purchase the Kolibree toothbrush, there are additional rewards that help motivate people to keep their teeth clean while defraying the cost of dental care.
The Dentegra dentist network – nearly 24,000 strong across the nation and growing – aims to help club members obtain discounts on dental care that can average as much as 50 percent off the normal cost of cleanings and a significant number of the most common dental care services. Dentegra bases that on 2014 projected average savings for all procedures as compared to the 90th percentile as determined by FAIR Health for the Austin service region.
The club is a dental discount plan — it is not insurance. Each club member visits a contracted Dentegra dentist and pays discounted fees for covered services; there are no claim forms, no annual deductibles and no annual maximums.
The Kolibree toothbrush, offered in addition to the monthly club membership fee, includes a mobile app at no charge that aims to keep people of all ages engaged and motivated to brush better and for longer. Basically, it registers both brushstrokes and location in toothbrushing. It’s goal is to offer a fun way to connect to phones and mobile devices, while improving brushing techniques; the Kolibree toothbrush allows parents to see how well their children are brushing on a daily basis, as well as store the entire family’s brushing behavior data on one smartphone – data that can be kept private or shared with dentists if users so choose.
Rewards will be based upon information automatically collected by the Kolibree toothbrush. More details about the pilot discount plan and how it works are available at http://www.dentegrasmileclub.com.
Based in San Francisco, Dentegra is part of an insurance holding company system with more than 31 million subscribers. It offers individual insurance plans in California, Georgia and Texas and is also on 38 state and federal health care exchanges.
